' Desert Wind Winery - Barbera

2008 Barbera

Outstanding – Wine Press Northwest, Spring 2011 issue
“Huckleberry jelly, raspberry and black cherry aromas transcend into more of the same on the palate with nice acidity to balance. The influence of oak is minimal and there's a reddish tinge to the finish with strawberry and watermelon candy.”

2007 Barbera

88 points – Wine Spectator, 2009 web only rewiew
“Firm in texture, but softens nicely as the ripe berry, chocolate and floral flavors emerge on the palate, lingering against crisp acidity. Drink now through 2011.”

Exceptional / 4 out of 5 stars – Bev X Magazine
“Bright ruby red with a hint of purple. The nose is dense and complex marrying rich, ripe berry fruit with accents of earth, toasty oak, and plum with hints of cardamom, allspice, and tart cherry. The palate is in full agreement delivering a generous while dry berry driven core with soft tannins and a generous dose of acid. Ideally balanced with complementing herb and earth flavors.”

89 points / Silver Medal - Beverage Testing Institute
“Rich baked berry pie, cedar, tomato and delicate spice aromas follow through on a round, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with excellent depth and tangy acidity. Finishes with a long mouthwatering fade and soft tannins.”
