“Nose: Taffy. Young leather. Dry river stones. Grass. Rosemary. Light rust. Very unique for a Syrah. Tongue: Light to medium mouthfeel. Medium steel. Round, thick, blackberries. Long finish.”

“The 2006 Syrah Desert Wind Syrah is a straightforward effort featuring a nose of smoked meat, game, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a plush texture, savory fruit, decent depth and moderate length but is in need of greater complexity.”
Brilliant / 3 out of 5 stars – Bev X Magazine
“Deep, dark ruby red color. The nose is wild with the scents of mint and fennel that appear as prominent as does the rich, berry-driven fruit core. Rich and silky on the palate with additional dimensions given to the sweet herb and fennel blast that lays atop of the ripe blackberry fruit with accents of mineral, clove, and black pepper. Very nicely balanced with good length and a deft use of oak.”

"Very spicy, with a tart tang to the blackberry and floral aromas and flavors, finishing bright. Needs time to settle down. Best after 2008."

TWO AND A HALF STARS - San Francisco Chronicle, October 29, 2007
"The Wahluke Slope is one of the hottest zones in the Columbia Valley. This wine has warm brown baking spices, peppered beef jerky, white pepper, juicy plum and brambly berry aromas. A rather briny flavor profile includes blackberry jam, and sweet oak spice cushions the palate when it reaches the chewy tannins that give this wine its very firm structure."

"Smooth and satiny. Shows lots of dark berry and currant fruit bubbling under a surface layer of dusky spice and black olive, with refined tannins supporting it all as the finish lingers generously. Drink now through 2014." -H.S.
Wine Columnist Bob Woehler, February 14, 2007
"Deep, dark and delicious describes this syrah. Vanilla and oak aromas give way to juicy cherry jam flavors with some chocolate and licorice at the finish."
